Can DITEC be used on classic or older cars?

Yes. Please contact your Authorized DITEC Center. Our technicians will examine the paint to determine its condition. A car that is taken care of, should not have any problem to apply DITEC Paint Preservation System even if the paint is old and oxidized.

These pictures illustrate the paint condition on an old Mercedes 560 SL. The paint is clearly oxidized and deteriorated in picture 1.

May I use an automated car wash?

Regardless DITEC Paint Preservation, hand wash is the best alternative. Touch free car washes may be used. Automated car wash with brushes or other rubbing equipment is too aggressive on the paint and will create deep scratches. Most of the damages in the carwashes are created when a group of people dry your car. The material used to dry your car, the amount of pressure applied and other factors create scratches on the paint. Also automated car washes do not clean a very dirty car appropriately. Therefore, the dust and dirt remains on the vehicle after the wash. These contaminants will during the drying process be rubbed all over the paint and may create irreparable scratches on the paint. We strongly suggest not to let the vehicle be hand dried at automated carwashes. Also you may consider to remind your service manager not to wash your vehicle when serviced. Most dealerships provide a poor detailing with little or no quality control.

You may contact your Authorized DITEC Center to wash your car.

What happens if I get salt, oil, tar, etc. on the paint?

You may use degreaser to remove these contaminants from the paint. DITEC Paint Preservation is resistant against petroleum, gasoline, turpentine and other cleaning agents. Unlike waxes you may also use mild liquid dish washing detergents to wash DITEC treated paint.
